If I had found this back when I was first trying to learn fly casting, it would’ve saved me a lot of headaches and missed fish! Back when I first started, I was in college and barely had enough money leftover for Top Ramen (let alone enough cash for fly fishing lessons). My first rod was a birthday gift from a family member who knew I was interested in trying it. In light of how hard it was for me to learn the skill set with no cash, I find it encouraging whenever I find good free instructional information. I think if we want the sport to continue to grow and flourish, we need to make the techniques more freely available to everybody and anybody who wants to learn. After all, the only time knowledge dies out is when it’s hoarded amongst the few rather than shared with all.
