For years I used an old TM hunter rest, but in the past few years I’ve stuck with the QAD Ultra rest HDX. The product has never failed me as of yet, and any misfortunes I might have had over the years the QAD wasn’t the reason why. While the QAD Ultra can be on the expensive side to buy especially the newer intergrated rest, its worth every penny. When a hunter has already spent possibly thousands of dollars to put a trophy animal in his sights, spending a little more money on a rest to work correctly just makes sense.

Hi Mark Morgan, thanks for reading. I will be straight forward with you and say that I personally am not a fan of shimming rests. Of course I would prefer to check out your exact set up before I give you any advice on that aspect, as I know several guys that have shimmed their rests and even sights and it improved their accuracy immensely. I just feel that in this day and age the technology is there and there is a perfect set up for everyone. The NAP is a good rest and I know what you mean when trying to save a little extra money. I live in AZ and so the archery hunting I do is the western style spot and stock. My second rest that I ever bought was the Whisker Biscuit (I had been using a Trophy Taker) and for having an arrow nocked and not having to worry about any movement, it was perfect. It held the arrow in place without any worries. However, I did notice a change in distance, so I had to adjust all of my pins for that specific style of rest. But I was sick of my arrow bouncing around my old Trophy Taker, so it was worth the switch. You can pick up a Whisker Biscuit style rest anywhere from $6.00 all the way up to $40.00.

I hope this helped.

Chris

Helping me narrow. I’m disabled shooting a compound with v bar. Just for me. Not a lot of $$. An extra $50 is a bite much. Currently using and NAP full capture. Really like style. Bounces too much. Should I shim the rest space? Impact? If you got some time I could use some direction,
