I have owned a number of 17hmr’s over the years, including the beautiful Ruger M-77/17 and an Anschutz Model 1517D,(which I will never part with), and yes, he is correct, it’s truly “a king”. But, to be fair, they wouldn’t come within an hours walk of the Lithgow 17hmr for accuracy, presentation and build quality. Most of my fellow club shooters have either changed to or are trying to source one for competition use. But everyone to their own I guess. I’ve never been a big fan of semi autos, if it takes that many follow up shots to hit the target, stop, take up knitting or something, so I will have to take your word for the choices, they seem interesting though. I wish that Thompson Contender G2 was available here, that would make an interesting addition to my safe……..

I have been contemplating getting a semi auto 17 HMR, but still not convinced on the reliability

It is a unique grip on the stock of the goldenboy but not a uge fan of the brass facade. The Varminter/Sportier model offers very nice ergonomics like a high end bolt but a lever from Henry. I also have a 17 hmr Henry frontier sans scope. I love the look of the frontier but the sportier model is superior shooting in my personal opinion. I also have an A17 target model with laminated stock and thumbhole grip, BSA sweet17 scope. It is not tatical reliable but very accurate target or pest gun. Very entertaining gun.

We tried several of the rifles presented and decided upon acquiring two VOLQUARTSEN 17hmr semi auto rifles
They are extremely accurate and have performed flawlessly
Thanks

I have two…22lr and .308. I love both of them. Great rifles! Considering another RP in .17 HMR. Why the omission Brenzy?

Ditto on the ballistic tipped rounds being the only ones to feed reliably in my Savage 93R

Also to the above poster. My heavy barrel ss 93 likes game pts, fmj and Polly tip

i have a savage 93R17. with a bull barrel.
it only feeds pointed rounds. ( choice is hornady express w/V max bullet).
all “hollow” points refuse to chamber( junk in this gun is cci 17 hmr tnt, jhp).
the tip is the problem. hollow point hits the metal just below the chamber. pointed rounds use the tip to feed up into the chamber.
using factory 5 and 10 round mags.
great gun hits everything i can see to shoot. burris 2X-7X , came with the rifle.
